In the thin film deposition process, DC sputtering is a widely used technology, mainly used to deposit thin films of metals, alloys or insulating materials on various substrates.
During the DC sputtering process, the DC sputtering power supply applies a negative DC high voltage to the target (material to be sputtered). When argon or other inert gas passes through the low-pressure area near the target, it will ionize and accelerate to hit the target surface. The energy of this high-speed collision will cause the atoms or molecules on the target surface to break away from the target and splash out, eventually depositing on the substrate to form a thin film.
